I have been using agave nectar in my tea & smoothies thinking it was a good alternative sweetner. Now, I have been reading that due to the processing it is almost 90% fructose. Can anyone clarify the pros & cons of agave? |

Most Agave Nectar is processed leaving behind mostly fructose. Unfortunately this is absorbed in the bloodstream much like refined sugar even though it comes from a natural source. Your best bet is getting raw agave nectar or using an alternative if you cannot find that. I would recommend raw honey, raw maple syrup, or raw cane juice. You can also try xylitol or stevia, which do not affect blood sugar.
